Jenna and Steven

Here is a wedding I shot in Daytona Beach, FL ~ Steven and Jenna. (It was held at the same venue my wedding will be at in May.) I've actually known the groom since he was probably about 8 years old. He and my little brother were friends growing up. So I've watched Steven grow up, and have seen the couple grow from High School Sweethearts to the couple they are today. In the past, I had photographed both his older brother and older sister's weddings (... before I went digital) and I was hoping they'd want me to shoot his wedding as well. Even though it meant travelling back to Florida after just getting settled into my new home in Washington, I was thrilled to be their photographer.

Erin & Graham's engagement session

Here are some highlights from my first engagement session here in my new city of Tacoma, WA. We started out by shooting down near the Museum of Glass, where alot of Chihuly's work is on display. The cone shaped building shown in the second image is called the "hot shop", and you can actually go in and watch a live demonstration of how they work with the glass. The aesthetics of the building are very striking to me when you drive into Tacoma on the 705, and I'd wanted to incorporate it into a shoot ever since I moved here.
From there we made our way to Point Defiance Park and Owen Beach. Erin and Graham were so much fun!...always laughing, and very little prompting from me.
I'll be photographing their April wedding in Lake Tapps, WA.

My Engagement Photos!

These are highlights from my engagement session. It's a group effort, and a friend is helping us take them. It'll probably take us a few different sessions on different dates to get all of them. Here's what we have so far...

I'm engaged!

Our Story

As most of you know, we met in Washington through mutual friends. We quickly discovered how much we had in common, and progressed in a short time from friends to dating... and before we knew it we fell in love. Now we're engaged and we're excited to start our lives together!

The Proposal:
First of all, it was a TOTAL surprise! I had no idea he had a ring or was going to propose right now. We had looked at rings and talked about a few possibilities, but with the stories he had concocted, he led me to believe it wouldn't be right now.... We had been over at some friends' house for dinner last night. When we got back to the house, he made up an excuse to run back to his car as he was walking me to the door, so I just went inside and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. I went into my room and set my coat and purse down, and the ring caught my eye as I was turning back around... it was in the ring box, sitting on my pillow. At first I froze, when I realized what it was, and it took a minute for it to sink in that it was my ring. Then he walked in and hugged me really tight me and asked if I would marry him. I said "yes!!" There were tears. There was champagne. It was really sweet and he totally pulled off the surprise!
