Forward March!

This month has been all about preparing for the Tacoma Wedding Expo in September this year. Matt and I are going to have a booth for Atlantic Arts Photography, in hopes of luring new brides our way. Until now, I haven't done any marketing or advertising for my business; it's been solely word of mouth and referrals - and I'm always greatly appreciative of those! After taking almost an entire year off for the baby, I'm looking forward to what advertising may bring.
Last week I attended an informative seminar in Seattle all about marketing and making the most out of the Expo. Now that the website is up and running again, the next step is some branding. My homemade logos aren't cutting it for me anymore, so I'm going to hire someone to make one, hopefully soon! After that, it will be fancy, letterpress business cards. A work in progress, but we'll get there!

Well, here we are again, at the beginning of another new year. Matt and I have not done very much with Atlantic Arts Photography this past year, as we were preparing for the birth of our daughter, Ivy.

Ivy is 3 months old now, and we are ready to get back to business!!

Astoria Wedding :: Sneak Peek!

Matt and I had the privilege of traveling to Astoria, Oregon for a wedding this summer.

Jessica & Tillmon (also known as "Bootsy") were married in Astoria on July 31, 2010!

I had met Jessica last year, through a friend, and I was instantly drawn to her bubbly personality. Even though I hadn't previously met her fiance, I was so excited that they asked us to be their wedding photographers. We were greeted with such gracious hospitality by their friends and family and had a great weekend getting to know everyone.

Their story as told by Jessica:

"We met through mutual friends who thought we would be perfect for one another....The problem? I was 14 and he was 17...So, for years we heard about one another and then we finally met 11 years ago, then we met again. That was the point when we knew that there was a mutual interest and saw what our friends had seen all those years ago...that maybe we were a good match. However, Bootsy had just receieved his acceptance to Bethel and I had an interest in serving where the need was greater. So, not being willing to stand in eachothers way and progress spiritually we both went on our merry way.

Last spring we were reconnected and began dating in June 2009 and were married on July 31st 2010."

Bonnie & Matt :: Boca Raton, FL Wedding!

I'm getting caught up with all of the work we did this season, woo hoo!! So, that brings me to Bonnie & Matt's April 17th wedding in Boca Raton, Florida. I've known Bonnie for a few years, as she is good friends with my sister in law. I was SO excited that she asked Matt and I to be her photographers!! I had not met her Matt until her wedding weekend, but he made a great first impression.

I think Bonnie and Matt's story is absolutely adorable! Here it is, as told by the bride in her own words:

"We met when we were little tweens at a friend's party. We had a mutual crush for a little while and then we had an off/on friendship over the years. Then about 5 years ago we became really good friends and then we realized we couldn't just be friends it would never work that way. So we dated for 3 1/2. We got engaged August 1, 2009 and we married April 17, 2010 :-). We kind of always knew we would end up together. He told his dad when he was 14 that he was going to marry me lol."

The ceremony was held at their place of worship and the reception was at Maggiano's in Boca Raton. All of the bridal party photos were taken at a nearby park.

Bonnie's hair and makeup were done by Leslie Bargas of Leslie's Hair Designs.

Her Allure Bridal Gown was from Bridal Couture of Boca Raton.

Necklace an earrings were from PowderBlueBijoux, an etsy.com shop.

And the rings are from JR Dunn Jewelers. The engagement ring was a custom made by her husband!
